Faculty Members from the University of Glasgow Visit the School of ISI May.19,2025

On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, two faculty members from the University of Glasgow— Professor Bethan L. Wood (Professor of Ecology, Deputy Head of School, Staff and Student Experience, Social & Environmental Sustainability) and Professor Steven Gillespie (Senior Lecturer in Social & Environmental Sustainability: SES) —visited ISI.

At 11:00 a.m., Professor Gillespie led a session introducing the SES program. Attended by students and faculty members, the session offered an overview of the SES department and the University of Glasgow, as well as insights into the fieldwork in Scotland which ISI students joined. The presentation highlighted the growing potential for international learning and academic cooperation.

During the following lunch session, four students who participated in the 2024 fieldwork and members of the Future Planning Committee enjoyed Japanese bento boxes and green tea in a relaxed atmosphere, deepening personal and academic ties.

From 1:00 p.m., following a welcome speech by Dean Araya, an active discussion was held with committee members on further collaboration. The exchange delved into concrete ideas, fostering mutual understanding and a shared commitment to advancing the initiative.

This meaningful day marked a significant step toward stronger collaboration between the two institutions in pursuit of a more sustainable future.
