Fall Commencement Ceremony for Academic Year 2025, School of Interdisciplinary Science and Innovation (ISI) Oct.2,2025
The Autumn Degree Conferment Ceremony was held at the Ito Campus on Thursday, September 25, 2025.
At the School of Interdisciplinary Science and Innovation, ten students were conferred their degrees, marking a bright and promising new beginning.
During the ceremony, Dean Araya delivered the following encouraging congratulatory message to the graduates:
“At the School of Interdisciplinary Science and Innovation, you have gained a wealth of practical experience through problem-based learning. As you enter society and face difficult challenges, it will be essential to listen to the voices of diverse stakeholders, make flexible decisions, and adopt a collaborative mindset.” He emphasized the importance of confronting real-world issues by sharing examples such as environmental conservation and coexistence with wildlife in Amami Oshima. His speech concluded with words of encouragement and hope for the graduates’ future.
In response, Ms. Fatiha Rahimatuz Zahra, a graduate representative from Indonesia, took the stage. She reflected on her university life, which began during the COVID-19 pandemic, and shared her experiences of struggling with a new environment and language in Japan, while also growing through those challenges. Within the broad learning and free research environment of the School of Interdisciplinary Science and Innovation, she discovered her interests, deepened her self-understanding through connections with peers and faculty, and expressed gratitude for the many challenges and support she encountered. She delivered a powerful message of hope and potential for each graduate’s future, concluding with heartfelt wishes for new adventures and a bright future.
After the ceremony, commemorative photos were taken, and the graduates bid farewell to their classmates and faculty members as they set off on their next journey.
