EPISODE 1

Ayano HIRASHIMA

4th year student

The University of Queensland, Australia

Throughout my studies in Australia, I have not only gained new knowledge and perspectives, but have also discovered new aspects of myself through classmate interactions, trips and social activities with various international friends, and part-time work in a restaurant. On campus, lecturers from different academic and cultural backgrounds and their tutors who supported us in our study and built close relationships with us made me enjoy the experience, even if the lectures were in a style I had never taken in Japan or in a discipline. I also bonded with friends through designing and presenting group projects and exam study groups, and we are still in touch to this day.

Off campus, I would go on road trips with my local friends or fly to another state. I also worked part-time in a restaurant since Australian student visas allow this. This is a great way to meet locals who you won’t meet on campus. It really is a lot of fun, so I would recommend trying to do some part-time work.

EPISODE 2

Misa YAMANOUCHI

4th year student

NASA Johnson Space Center

It was a program that was held by the organization outside the school, and I went to NASA with about 40 students who came from all over Japan. In addition to the NASA facilities, we visited universities, museums, and archives related to space development and received lectures on space development from experts in various fields. During my two weeks of study abroad, I was provided with opportunities to produce output at a pace of one or more times every two days, and I am confident in the amount of knowledge I gained by using my hands and mind. I am very glad that I participated in this program because I was able to learn a lot of things by going there, and I was able to meet other people who love space enthusiasts and share information with them even after my study abroad.
