Message for high school students

The ocean matters, has always mattered, and will continue to shape the future of life on Earth. For most of us, however, the ocean is a story, an environment we know through narratives, from literature to documentaries, photographs to videogames. In my courses we will explore how knowing the ocean, understanding it and caring for it, requires all the tools and approaches we possess, from biology and physics to literary studies and philosophy. Within this vibrant interdisciplinary space, I hope we can generate new stories, ones that allow a more ethical and entangled relationship between humanity and our blue world.
