Mineral processing

Researcher Information

Message for high school students

Have you ever watched the anime Dr. Stone? Imagine if civilization suddenly went back to the Stone Age, and we had to rebuild everything from scratch, using only rocks and minerals. How would we extract iron, copper, gold, silver, and other valuable metals from stones? And how could we use these metals to power our world—to generate electricity, make batteries, build phones, cars, radars, satellites, and more?

In mineral processing, we learn the techniques to extract valuable metals from the earth. At the School of Interdisciplinary Science and Innovation, you'll not only learn the engineering side of metal extraction but also explore it from social and environmental perspectives. Plus, you'll discover ways to reduce the environmental impact of these processes, helping to protect our planet while advancing technology!
