ISI online short-term program / I-COIL Data Science and Communication in Smart Cities Aug.30,2023

 ISI online short-term program /I-COIL " Data Science and Communication in Smart Cities" was held for five days from Monday, August 21 to Friday, August 25, 2023. This program was organized by Professor Shin’ichi Konomi (ISI) in collaboration with Assistant Professor Chao Wang (National Taiwan Normal University/NTNU).

 The program aims to understand the basic concepts of smart cities and their related complex social issues, acquire fundamental knowledge in data science, learn data communication technologies for the internet of things and smart cities, gain a deeper understanding of how data is generated, communicated, and interpreted in smart city applications. A total of 34 students, 14 from NTNU and 20 from ISI, Kyushu University, participated in the program. After lectures by Professor Konomi and Assistant Professor Chao Wang, seven mixed groups of students from both universities were formed for group work and a final presentation.

 The program was extremely fruitful, with participants saying that it helped them acquire data science knowledge as well as improve their language skills.
