ISI online short-term program//COIL “Advanced Global Issues” Dec.21,2023

School of Interdisciplinary Science and Innovation (ISI) online short-term program /COIL "Advanced Global issues" was held for 4 days from Thursday, October 19, 2023 to Thursday, December 7, 2023. This program was a joint academic program with Prof. Johan Lauwereyns(ISI) and Associate Prof. Koujiro Sho(Human Environment Studies), Kyushu University, and Adjunct Prof. Michel Chu(President/CEO of Industrial Technology Investment Corporation) and Adjunct Prof. Eric Yang(Co-Founder of Tutor ABC) , National Taiwan University.

The objective of the program was to form mixed teams of students from Kyushu University and National Taiwan University working together to participate in a project for the Hult Prize Competition.  The Hult Prize is an internationally known competition that challenges youth to solve the world's most pressing problems through social entrepreneurship.


A total of 24 students, including 14 from Kyushu University, participated in the program. The students communicated with each other in English, and deepened their learning and exchange. On the last day, December 7, Professor Lauwereyns gave a COIL from NTU.  After COIL ended, some teams continued to be formed to apply for the Hult Award, which developed into a learning experience that went beyond the classroom.
